Effortless Logistics for Hobart Marina Project

Project Haulage Australia was tasked with transporting 80 semi-trailer loads of concrete pontoons from Brisbane to Hobart Marina, Tasmania. This large-scale project required precision timing, coordination across multiple regions and seamless communication between teams, all while adhering to the tight schedules of the ferry system, tide times and local transport operators.

The Challenge

The project presented multiple logistical challenges, including the need to load up to 10 trailers at a time in Brisbane via cranes, transport them to Port Melbourne and meet specific ferry time slots. Upon reaching Tasmania, the trailers had to be offloaded by local carriers and coordinated with crane operations and tide times in Hobart to ensure timely delivery to the marina.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Project Haulage maintained strong communication between the customer, our operations team, the ferry operator and the local Tasmanian carriers. Utilising GPS tracking, we provided real-time updates 24/7 on the location of each load. This allowed all involved parties to remain informed and adjust as needed, ensuring the project stayed on track.

The Result

Project Haulage Australia successfully delivered all 80 trailer loads of concrete pontoons on time and within budget, ensuring the Hobart Marina upgrade proceeded without delay or incident. Our precise coordination and communication with all stakeholders played a critical role in the project’s success.
